During World War II, Corrie ten Boom and her family hid Jews in their home. They were eventually arrested and sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp.In that camp:
- Her sister Betsie died after suffering terribly
- Corrie saw cruelty, humiliation, and injustice daily
Humanly speaking, forgiveness would have been impossible.
Years Later…
After the war, Corrie began preaching about God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
One day, after a church meeting in Germany, a man walked toward her.
She froze.
👉 He was one of the guards from Ravensbrück—the very place where her sister died.
He smiled and said:
“How grateful I am for your message… to think that, as you say, He has washed my sins away.”
Then he stretched out his hand:
“Will you forgive me?”
The Moment of Truth
Corrie stood there… unable to move.
Inside her:
- Pain
- Anger
- Memories of her sister’s suffering
She later wrote that she could not forgive him by her own strength.
So she prayed silently:
“Jesus, I cannot forgive him. Give me Your forgiveness.”
Then she slowly lifted her hand.
What Happened Next
When she took his hand, she said something unexpected happened:
A surge—like a current—went through her, and she felt genuine love for him.
She forgave him—not from emotion, but from Christ.
